Wellbeing sessions for overwhelmed parents

For those parents/carers living in the SEN family experience and who live locally to me in or around Exeter (UK) I'm workshopping some wellbeing sessions on Tuesday evenings in August and booking now for my September sessions.

The idea is to create a space in the week in which our nervous systems can have a break. One of the reasons people meditate, for example, or go to yoga classes or tai chi is to have a mindful moment in their life that feels like taking a deep breath, a full stop, gives you perspective, allows a bit of spaciousness between you and your thoughts and feelings and any dysregulation in your home.

In neurodiverse households, there are a lot of stressful situations on the daily.

Of course there is your child's behaviour as they navigate things they find hard. But there is also how that affects their siblings, all the emails that ping back and forth about their EHCP or their provision, the meetings you have to go to, the appointments and sometimes the way in which we have to fight for their needs to be met or their behaviours to be understood. 

It's easy to become overwhelmed.

But what would that look like...if we could learn to balance ourselves a bit more effectively when things go wrong or are difficult? 

I've created a wellbeing session for parents/carers who are interested in balancing and resourcing themselves.

Sessions will be extremely low demand and well supported. The time will be structured in a way that invites you to try out a variety of techniques with everything on offer an invitation and optional. 

Activities include:

  • an easy short meditation for complete beginners
  • breathing exercises,
  • activities to regain a more grounded and centred space within your family experience
  • sense of self work
  • and the opportunity to practise getting in touch with information from our bodies and learning to listen to and balance the nervous system.

From September sessions will be booked in 8 week (half termly) blocks, a bit like most yoga classes. The cost for the block will be £60 (which works out at £7.50 per session.)

September 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th, October 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th.
